La Hermandad in Dezeen

The most prestigious architecture magazine praises the result of the reform

The architecture and interior design magazine Dezeen has published an extensive article dedicated to our rural house, La Hermandad de Villalba.

In this article, written in English, we talk to the architects responsible for the renovation project, Estudio Lucas and Hernández-Gil, who reveal the details on which they relied to carry out the reform. The combination of the humble clay floor materials (handcrafted in a nearby village furnace), along with the fine sand mortar walls, as well as the wood of the ground floor doors, which have retained their color for play with the tones of the other elements and that together remind us of the landscape of Tierra de Barros.

Another aspect highlighted by the magazine is the conservation of vaults and arches. The sober but elegant decoration of the house is completed with a completely new top floor, because it used to house the sausages to dry, where again wood, clay and fine mortar play with furniture designs more current to give a look to the beautiful house.
